you know what’s really annoying? i search the vegan tag and i see this over and over and over..
yes i know it’s a joke, she is a comedian. but it pisses me off, this isn’t accurate.
so please fucking stop posting it and thinking you are the most hilarious fucking person in the world, because YOU’RE NOT.
number one: Veganism is not a diet.. and most vegans won’t tell you they are vegan unless you ask them or you go out to eat with them. it is not just “eat whatever you want” of course you don’t care if someone is vegan IT DOESN’T EFFECT YOU! you eating meat GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING A VEGAN STANDS FOR. so you can go “but i respect your choice to be vegan, why can’t you respect my choice to eat meat” (of course you respect veganism.. how could you not respect a life devoted to compassion?)
YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING TO EVERYTHING I STAND AGAINST. my entire life is devoted to being vegan, it is NOT JUST what i eat.
for me it is not a choice, it is WHAT IS RIGHT. you are the one making the choice to pay for someone to exploit, rape and torture animals.. not me. and if you have such a fucking issue with people TELLING YOU WHERE YOUR FOOD COMES FROM, maybe you need to sit down and think about that for a moment… why do you not like being told where your food comes from? why do vegans annoy you? would you like to be treated the way animals are treated?
If you can understand why it’s wrong to eat a cat or a dog, you can understand why i think it’s wrong to eat a cow or a pig.
number two: It isn’t about “animal labour”, it is about EXPLOITING AND MURDERING SENTIENT BEINGS. there is also the health, environmental, economical and personal reasons that go along with it.
milk is only produced when a mother cow has a baby (they are mammals just like us) so for you to have milk/cheese/icecream a calf has to go without.
The mother cows are artificially inseminated with what’s literally called a “rape rack” (yes they RAPE the cows, they also jack off the bulls.. ew)
baby gets none of mums milk, milk that is MADE to take a tiny calf and create a 1000lb adult (can you imagine what that stuff does to you?) we are the only mammals that drink milk after infancy and from ANOTHER FUCKING SPECIES? can you not see how messed up that is?
and honey is BEE VOMIT.. honey is food for bees that they keep so they can eat during winter/autumn.. so they don’t starve to death.
and so yeah, THAT IS WRONG.
these creatures have their own reasons for being, not just to serve as a commodity for humans to use. These are living animals that feel pain/happiness/sadness/joy/love, not property..
and you want to know WHY IT IS ENDLESS? because there are so many fucking reasons why we are vegan. so fucking many
number three: I think it is childish logic to think that because you were born a certain species makes you better than the rest.

these immigrants have a choice to pick vegetables to work, they made the choice to immigrate… ANIMALS DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE
do you think they would CHOOSE to be murdered? to be raped? to have their children abducted? to have their food stolen? to have their babies MURDERED? to be tortured and kept in fucking cages?
would YOU choose that?
you think you are better than all species, just because you were born human.
and for the record, people who pick vegetables in my country get paid more than someone working in retail.. they get almost $1,000 a week.. they are not hard done by at fucking all
I respect your response to this asinine post, as a fellow vegan, all the way up until that last paragraph, about the migrant workers… as it’s categorically false. I admit that I’m speaking for the United States, but migrant farm workers perform backbreaking work for closer to $7,500 per year, must leave their homes and families in order to work for this pathetic wage, and have no workplace rights or standards as a result of their illegal status. I don’t think that vegans care less about people than animals, and I don’t see why they should have to pick - vegans are people, and people care about people. Defending animals doesn’t have to mean throwing humans under the bus. In the same way that animals should be protected from exploitation, so should people.
i’m tired
of takeout boxes and curry
and of tired mornings and wired nights
of “more napkins” and “more water” and “more rice” and “check please”
of dosas and chicken tikka masala and falooda, oh you damned thing, falooda
tired of sarcasm and dirty looks and 5% and 10% tips and staying late with customers
of picking up the slack, of broken glasses, of dirty silverware, of sauce and gravy everywhere
of sambhar soup, rice stuck in the tongs of forks
of sleepy brunch-goers, lifting chaffers and clearing dirty paper
of fake smiles and real irritation, of jokes about people needing a wheelbarrow to leave or a cot and pillow to sleep off their food coma
of naan, food from the buffet for dinner, curry sitting heavy with rice and naan in my belly, making me fat
i’m tired of working at this damned restaurant.
